Description

The educational program “An Olympian in Ancient Greece” aims to introduce students to the history of the Games in Ancient Greece. In particular, the students acquire knowledge about the Olympic Games, the events, the everyday life of the athletes as well as the way they are conducted, making stops in selected thematic sections of the museum’s permanent exhibition. Through images, videos and audio descriptions, children become familiar with the concepts of Olympism and the events of the Games.
The worksheet accompanying the educational program invites students to develop their imagination and synthesize the information they gradually discover, creating their own Olympian, through whose eyes they “participate” in this great event. By the end of the activity, the students will have understood the spirit and values of the Olympic Games while having fun and being creative. The program lends itself to classroom activities after completion. The educational material is designed based on the New Analytical Study Programs of the Ministry of Education.

Interdisciplinarity and implementation in the courses of the Curriculum:
History: 3rd-4th grade
Physical Education: 3rd-4th-5th grade

Note: The program is offered per class of a maximum of 30 students
